At just 4.9 kg (10.8 lbs) and with a footprint barely bigger than a laptop, the TMZ400 Series is one of the most travel-friendly laser projectors in its class. Setting up couldn't be simpler: place it on a desk, connect your source, and you're presenting within seconds. Ceiling installation is equally straightforward, making it a natural fit for permanent classroom or boardroom deployments where time and effort matter.
Real-world ceilings are rarely ideal — lights, air-conditioning vents, and fixed mounting points can all force a projector off-center. Digital Zoom Extender solves this by extending the effective throw distance beyond the optical zoom range, so you always get the image size you need. The new Digital Image Shift function adds a further layer of flexibility: shift the projected image up to 10% vertically or horizontally using the remote, without touching the mount. Upgrading from a PT-TW381R Series lamp projector? The TMZ400 uses the same mount and bracket, so you can bolt it straight in and use Digital Zoom Extender to reframe the image — no construction work required. Note: resolution is reduced when Digital Zoom Extender or Image Shift is active, some correction functions are unavailable, corner adjustment range is limited, and image size is reduced to 80% when Digital Image Shift is enabled.
Compact projectors often struggle in bright rooms, producing dull, washed-out images the moment the blinds go up. The TMZ400 Series punches well above its weight with up to 4,000 lm of laser output (PT-TMZ400: 4,000 lm; PT-TMW380/TMX380: 3,800 lm), delivering sharp, richly saturated images even with the room lights fully on. Whether it's a sun-drenched classroom or a busy open-plan office, the picture stays clear and readable from every seat. Brightness values measured under Full On/Full Off conditions with PICTURE MODE set to DYNAMIC and DYNAMIC CONTRAST set to 1, in compliance with ISO/IEC 21118:2020.
One of the strongest arguments for laser projection is the dramatic reduction in running costs. Both the laser light source and the ECO Filter are rated to approximately 20,000 hours before replacement is needed — a period during which a comparable lamp-based projector would require between one and four lamp changes plus regular filter maintenance. The ECO Filter can be washed and reused up to two times, reducing waste further. There are no expired lamps to dispose of safely, no unplanned downtime for maintenance, and no surprise replacement costs. Laser brightness also ramps up and down in a controlled way, ensuring color reproduction remains consistent and vivid across the full life of the light source. Note: at approximately 20,000 hours, light output will have decreased to about 50% of its original level under reference conditions (DYNAMIC mode, 30 °C, 700 m elevation, 0.15 mg/m³ particulate matter). Actual hours vary by environment.
